Booked & Busy But Still.... unsatisfied
I love doing hair. I am a licensed cosmetologist and it makes me proud to have earned that license and to be doing what I trained to do. However..... I know there is more. More to do in the hair industry besides working behind the chair. More to do besides working directly with customers.
Part of the reason I started this website, blog thingy is to explore where my writing will take me. Do I want to write about hair? The thought of that makes me very happy but also overwhelms me. Writing is a solo pursuit and I am scared for my income to rely solely on me and the words I type while on my computer.
Customers keep me accountable. I don't want to let them down, so I show up prepared and ready to help. However, I can feel my heart trying to tip toe out of the room and into another dream. That's cool, but I want to see my hair dreams through also. I know I can do more in this arena. I know I am not done yet. I just don't know what my next step is.
My first step forward is to take some things off my plate so I can actually focus on what I want to do next in the area of hair. The first thing I am upgrading is my booking. Until now I have been diligently and successfully making appointments via text message. In the beginning, it worked beautifully. Now that I get so many inquiries from new and existing clients, it has become hard to keep up, especially because I am being pulled in so many directions.
I signed up for Gloss Genius and I really like it so far. I mean I really like it. It is more than just a booking app. I still have so much to do to fully make the switch but I am right now setting a goal to be fully accepting appointments on gloss genius by end of September 2024. As I write this, that gives me 22 days.
I will let you know how it goes.
